White Fillings
White or composite resin fillings, are used to fill new cavities or to replace older, failing silver fillings. When artfully placed and polished, unlike silver, these restorations are hardly noticeable.
Composite Resin Restorations
This type of restoration is designed for the tooth that has a lesion too deep to seal but not deep enough for a conventional filling. A thin diamond is used to open up the affected tooth structure that is then conditioned to receive a white filling. Numbing the tooth is generally not necessary.
Crowns
Various types of “full coverage” crowns are offered to our patients in need of extra protection for chewing. Crowns are reserved for teeth in precarious situations, including those which have been over restored with large fillings, have broad spread decay, have fractured, or are root canal treated teeth which can become dry and brittle thereby being prone to discoloration and fracture, and more. The material of choice for crowns is decided by the doctor with the patient and tailored specifically to meet the requirements of each case.
TMJ Diagnosis & Treatment
Our temporal mandibular joints (TMJ) are the most complicated in our bodies. Careful examination and early diagnosis of abnormal functioning can help prevent long term problems associated with this joint. Depending on the nature of a TMJ problem, consultation with a specialist may be required.
Tooth Bonding
Bonding can serve many needs in a dental care environment. We use this procedure to fill teeth, close spaces or reshape teeth, repair roots that are worn or decayed, and repair old crowns not otherwise replaced. Advances in these materials continue to improve the esthetics of those who receive this care.
Dental Implants
Our doctors team with oral and periodontal surgeons to restore implanted root forms that replace missing teeth. Dental implants are great alternatives to conventional bridges as they preserve the adjacent teeth that are often healthy and not otherwise in need of treatment. A restorative dental implant prosthesis requires no anesthetic; they are custom made to fit one’s arch and restore function as well as aesthetics.
Sleep Apnea & Anti-Snoring Appliances
Oral appliances to aid in the reduction of sleep apnea and to help reduce snoring are offered by our doctors. By forwardly positioning the lower jaw, the airway space is opened and allows one to breathe better during the night. Several designs are available. Quiet, quality sleep is healthier for everyone!
Bruxguards
We offer Bruxguard appliances for our patients who display signs of chronic bruxing or gnashing of their teeth, which most often occurs during sleep. As we only have one set of teeth, it is important to protect them from this destructive habit. These appliances help reduce sensitivity, fractures and wearing down of the vertical height of our teeth. Many of our wearers are surprised by how comfortable and unobtrusive their appliances feel and are dependent on them for nightly wear.
Custom-Fitted Sports Mouthguards
Our staff takes impressions and fabricates custom-fitted sports mouthguards upon request.
We have found our student athletes enjoy the ability to more freely communicate with their teammates while wearing guards that are custom fitted and comfortable to protect their smiles. Over the counter guards are also available, and no matter one’s choice, we always recommend that our patients wear a dental guard on the field or court!
